Man attempted to steal a three week old baby in Adavi LGA

By Ismail M. Kabir

There was confusion in Enyinomo community of Adavi LGA today when a man attempted to forcefully steal a three week old baby from her grandmother's arm.

The suspect, a man of about 30 years old who claimed to be on facilitation visit to the family over the newborn was said to have appeared from nowhere and dashed into the living room and tried to grab the baby from the arms of the grandmother.

The woman who felt he was one of their church member was about handing over the baby to the intruder when Mrs. Princess stopped her and raised alarm.

"My wife quickly stopped my mother from releasing her baby to a stranger as the man was neither from our church, nor from this community", Mr. Job Sule, the baby's father said while speaking with EbiraView in their home this evening.

He noted that the strange man who claimed that he received the news  of the newborn from his church suddenly took to his heels as soon as the women raised alarm.

The incidence which happened around 12:00 noon attracted the youth in the area who chased after the fleeing suspect until he was caught midway to his escape from the community.

Mr. Job said that he received the distress call from his wife when he rushed home from his church service at the Arise and Shine parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God where he worships.

Sensing an impending danger, the suspect began acting insane to discourage the youth from attacking him.

One of the youths who pleaded for anonymity said that after beating suspect to a pulp, he started yelling and begging for mercy, saying he was mentally unstable.

Mr. Job, however, expressed shock on how the man got wind of their newborn and the assurance that no male occupant was at home to obstruct his mission at that time of the day.

The man has been handed over to the police station of the Adavi division for interrogation and further investigation.

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte
