THE LAMENTATION OF 100 DAYS CRITICS

By Barr. Omeiza Shadrach, E.

The wee hours of 27th day of April, 2016, witnessed an upsurge of criticism from the expectant critics waiting for the 100 days in office of Governor Yahaya Bello. True to their readiness, they viciously slammed Governor Yahaya Bello for utter failure to deliver or transform Kogi State to their desired haven within 100 days, but alas, its just 90 days of Governor Yahaya Bello in office.  This shows a matchless level of expectation from the critics, albeit in a twisted manner.

The past administration really tried, in fact seriously tried to transform Kogi State to El Dorado but is only that we cannot just see and point to the visible result of their projects, not even a microscopic one. Pardon the sarcasm. However, just to mention few, ghost workers dominate civil service and civil servants stopped smiling their ways to the Banks. Courtesy of the past administration.

It is okay to expect development and transformation in the State from the current administration but the problem is living in the denial of the bad shape in which Governor Yahaya Bello met the State. Also alarming, is to expect the Governor to do in 100 days what the previous administration could not do in 1,460.9688 days! This is practically an expectation impossible.

Any developmental adherent should take a short trip to Kogi State and assess every strata of the State, and then come and tell the whole world if there is any good news to tell. To say nothing but the truth, every sincere person will wonder how and where the Governor will start from, considering the particular and peculiar kind of economic and social infirmity in the State.

Governor Yahaya Bello has never and will never shy away from his responsibilities as the Governor of the State on whose table the buck stops. He is ready to turn around the fortune of the State for the good of all and this he has started gradually and surely.
But he is not going the way of get it done quick critics, he is going to take his time step by step to accomplish a lasting solution to every sector of the State. As we may all agree that great change takes time.

Every Kogite is a lover of the State and if that is true and correct, every dissent and sabotage must be abandoned in a hurry to have a progressive and prosperous State. Our people deserve good life, and nothing short of good life they will get under the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

Let us pray for his success and not his downfall. Governor Yahaya Bella shall succeed and take Kogi State to a higher level of progress. So help us God!

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte

The Obege legend

In the earliest generations when the art of magic was yet a myth to the people, there was born a boy into a family of hunters in the village of Eika - one of the six communities that comprised the ancestral groups. He was believed to have been born with a leaf in his hand and to the elders of then, that was prognostic of what he would be - a native healer. And had grown up performing wonders. His kinsmen were all hunters, they would deny the boy the opportunity to follow them hunting, purely on age ground - and he was really too young to go hunting in the forest. They would leave him in the house with the women as they set out on their hunting expedition. But they had meet the young Obege in the forest roasting a fair member of the forest’s game, all alone - and unarmed! The elders had to defer to this wonderful boy. Obege as an adult was more than human. His fame had spread all over the land: he was a healer of most seemingly incurable diseases, he was a rain maker, assumed more divin
