The identity of the victims has been revealed by one of their colleagues who identified the affected workers as John Job, Mohammed Tajudeene, and Samuel Abiodun, adding that the incident took place as they were about resuming the day’s operation.

"The kidnappers later called the chief executive to demand for N30 million ransom. This is the first time that we are experiencing this act, though we have experienced robbery within the premises.

"We would appreciate if they can be rescued because their families cannot handle the situation," the colleague said.

It was gathered that kidnapping is on the rise in Kogi and some other parts of the country, with the government promising to do everything possible to tackle insecurity.

Recently, the Oyo state government introduced capital punishment for kidnapping.
