I understand that the Kogi East felt their population is too large for just one senatorial district or carrying excess luggage, therefore they intend to shed the weight. They intend to do that by taking some of their LGAs to add to the central district. I don’t know if they have cared to see the constitutional rationality and ethnic sovereignty behind the arrangement. That in every state there is always the three senatorial districts. Kano State with about 40 LGAs has three senatorial districts. If Kogi East are said to be 1.4 million people, Kogi Central with 928,000 people and Kogi West is 906,000, if they now wish to add Dekina and Bassa LGAs to the central, that now gives the central 1.329m people with the East left with 1.078m. To start with this, is there any justification? Is there any justice in what they wish to do? In doing this, it clearly shows that there are ulterior motive behind it.
