The National Coordinator of Procurement Observation and Advocacy Initiative, PRADIN, Mr. Mohammed Bougei Attah has identified capacity gap in the application of procurement management system in Nigeria as a major factor responsible for the poor procurement performances in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the federal government.   Speaking yesterday in Benin, Edo State, as consultant to the African Network for Economic and Environmental Justice, ANNEJ, at a two-day workshop for civil society organisations, CSOs and journalist from the state on Procurement Monitoring, Observation and Reporting, Attah informed the participants that the high level of procurement frauds, which accounts for about 70 per cent of total corruption cases in the sector is traceable to use of non-qualified personnel to administer procurement processes.   A participant at the workshop, Mr. Victor Victor Emejuiwe of Centre for Social and Economic Justice, CENSOJ, Abuja collaborated th...

Of Former Speaker, Kogi Politics and the Macabre Dance of the Irrelevant

By Kingsley Fanwo In the last 48 hours, we have watched in measured awe, how a few renegades under  the former Speaker and former principal officers of the House, who have become suddenly interested in the affairs of Kogi State at a time when their intervention should have quietly flown in as compliments to the administration that has shown that what Kogi has been lacking all along was purposeful leadership. However, there are certain salient enlightenment we need to roll out to douse the thirst of ...

A people, whose ancestors carved a niche in ironworks way back as the 7th century suffered for want of materials to support their trade while a steel giant lay raped in their backyard by a series of unfortunate events and conspiracies. In October, I took online to issue a petition pleading with ‪#‎President‬ ‪#‎Buhari‬ to revive ASCL; and with your support we were able to get hundreds of signatures. Since that day, I left no stone unturned to discover the happenings so as to better understand the best path forward. I have taken time ...
