INEC Delineation Shall Cause War In Kogi State

I understand that the Kogi East felt their population is too large for just one senatorial district or carrying excess luggage, therefore they intend to shed the weight. They intend to do that by taking some of their LGAs to add to the central district. I don’t know if they have cared to see the constitutional rationality and ethnic sovereignty behind the arrangement. That in every state there is always the three senatorial districts. Kano State with about 40 LGAs has three senatorial districts. If Kogi East are said to be 1.4 million people, Kogi Central with 928,000 people and Kogi West is 906,000, if they now wish to add Dekina and Bassa LGAs to the central, that now gives the central 1.329m people with the East left with 1.078m. To start with this, is there any justification? Is there any justice in what they wish to do? In doing this, it clearly shows that there are ulterior motive behind it. Now, you have increased central and have decreased your own, to the extent that Kogi East

Excerpts: YOU are from Central Senatorial district of Kogi State and there is this crisis in Ebiraland that has been lingering for long, what do you think has been responsible for this endless crisis? The problem in Ebiraland comes from accumulated grievances of the past. The cause of the crises can also be traced to errors in marriages, traditions, culture, economic prospect and leadership of the land. For us to be able to eradicate these problems, we may need to take a look into the past and compare it with the present so that we would be able to proffer a lasting solution to the problems in Ebira politics. Recently, the state governor, Dr. Ibrahim Idris, set up a committee to look into the possibility of addressing these setbacks, how far has the committee gone with its term of reference? The committee has completed its assignment and the white paper

My name is Barrister Abdul Mumuni Yakubu Usman, a legal practitioner, an Ebira man from Kogi central, Nigeria. Legally, who will you describe as an Ebira man? An Ebira man is anybody that hails from kogi central, whether from Okene, Okehi, Adavi and Ajaokuta local Government areas. We understand you are not a politician, but can you tell us about Ebiras, politically? It is very unfortunate that politics in my own state is not what politics is meant to be. In Kogi state, we play politics of mischief and hooliganism. Politics where few money-bags hijack
