Condolence Message as Yahaya Junior passes on

We, the entire staff and management of EbiraView Media express our deep condolence to the family of our deseaced brother and very good friend, Comrade Yahaya Mamman Junior who passed on to the Lord today, Tuesday September 30th, 2014. Ebira youths will forever miss him as his untimely demise has left a big vacuum in youth activisim in Ebira land. Late Yahaya Mamman Junior was the former National President of National Association of Ebira Students (NAKOSS) and the Coordinator of Ebira Youths Peace Initiative Movement (EYPIM) which facilitated the much touted arms submission by warring youths in Okene in 2011. We beseech almighty Allah to forgive all his shortcomings and grant his gentle soul eternal peace. May Allah also grant his family, friends and loved ones the fortitude to bear the painful loss, ameen. Signed: Management

Remembering Abu Limit, 1943 - 2010

INNA LILLAHI WA'INA ILAYHI RAJIUN With glory to almighty Allah for a life well spent and with a deep sense of loss, we regrettably announce the death of our father, mentor, community leader and elder statesman, Alhaji Chief (Dr.) Abubakar Ibrahim (a.k a Abu Limit) Late Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim (1943-2010) He died at the National Hospital Abuja on December 26th, 2010 after a brief illness. Until his death, Alh. (Dr.) Abubakar Ibrahim was the Chairman and Chief executive officer of the famous Limit Nigeria Limited, reputable for high quality concrete electricity poles production in Nigeria, a reputation the industry has retained for over 3 decades. Late Abubakar Ibrahim popularly known among Ebiras as Abu Limit, was one of Ebira greatest industrialists of our time whose industrial passion has won him a doctorate degree from All Saints University, USA in 2001. Celebrating the life of an ENIGMA, a loving Mother

Maria Onyioza Makoju the MATRIARCH of the MAKOJU family of Ebiraland was born in Okene, Karaworo district in 1922. She attended the RCM School where caught the eye of the young student teacher Augustine Bamidele Makoju who eventually married her on 28/12/1941. The young couple started and spent their early life outside Ebiraland, first in Asaba, Delta State where Mr. Makoju was a teacher with the Roman Catholic Mission. There the young Ovavu Makozi today retired Bishop of Port Harcourt and certainly one of Nigeria ’s most accomplished respected and loved Catholic Bishops joined them, and lived with two for years before starting his priesthood career. In Asaba, the Makojus were blessed with two sons; Joseph and Martin. Finally, they headed homewards to Okene to settle down and serve their homeland, and in Okene had their last three children; Monica, Charles and Jude. The family lost their youngest member Jude at the tender age of 28 years and he was survived by his son Onimisi. ...

As Bishop Haruna passes on ....

Background of the Man Herbert Bishop Haruna was born in 1924 at Okene, a town in Kogi state (then Kabba Province). His father was polygamous and therefore Mrs. Elizabeth Ibegu Haruna (mother of Bishop Haruna), was one of many wives in Yakubu family. Two interesting thing about this family are that; 1.it is a royal family and stood for all that Ebira arristocracy had to offer; the other two arms of the family tree being of course the Atta and Ochunu Onukoko forming the big royal family that produced Bishop Haruna 2. Papa Yakubu being a muslim accepted the tennets of Islam with regards to marriage and therefore warmly and willingly embraced polygamy but the point of interest here is that Herbert broke away from this strict family tradition to become a christian. This gives crdence to the saying 'ce sera sera' (whatever will be will be). One can see the rationale behind why the Herbert of later years, zealously held on to views he strongly believed in.
