EBIRA YOUTH ELITES ORGANIZATION OF NIGERIA (EYEN) CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO HIS EXCELLENCY, GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO AND HIS NEW DIRECTION TEAM ON THE VICTORY AT THE SUPREME COURT Date: 31st August, 2020. We write to congratulate His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello on the affirmation of your electoral victory by the Supreme Court.  This victory has further proven your acceptance by  the good people of the state, and an opportunity to fulfill the promises made to them.  There is no doubt that the legal tussles from the tribunal through to the Apex Court may have been a distraction since the inception of this tenure, hence our hope that you begin to do more as you have promised the people of Kogi State.  There is so much more to be done, and we assure you of our unreserved support in development and objective appraisal of your  government.  We also urge you and your New Direction team to do us the honour of extending the olive branch to all candidates across political pa

"It Is A Corona Judgement" Ebira Youth Congress Holds World Press Conference on Ajaokuta Ownership Tussle

TEXT OF WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY COMRADE BABA ABDULRAZAK, THE PRESIDENT-GENERAL (OUT-GOING), EBIRA YOUTH CONGRESS (EYC) AT UTENYI/OHUNENE, EGANYI DISTRICT, AJAOKUTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KOGI STATE ON TUESDAY, 23rd JUNE, 2020. Gentlemen of the press, Distinguished members and followers of the Congress, Ladies and gentlemen. We, the leadership of the youths of Ebira, under the aegis of Ebira Youth Congress (EYC), the apex socio-cultural organization of the youths of Ebira ethnic nationality both at home and in diaspora, have critically reviewed recent developments in Kogi state and deemed apt to call this press briefing to bring to your knowledge and indeed, that of the whole world, the mindless and relentless efforts by our neighbours at the eastern flank of Kogi state, the Igalas, to rob us of our God-given lands and other resources through judicial “abracadabra”! This conference is in furtherance of our efforts aimed at averting ethnic conflicts being orchestr

Alleged Assault On Okene DLG, The Truth Of The Matter

Hon. Abdulrazaq The attention of the media unit of Okene Local government has been drawn to rumour and unfounded allegations making round on social media that, the Administrator of Okene Local government, Hon. (Mall.) Abdulrazaq Muhammad ordered his Personal Assistant to molest the Local government DLG, Hajia Hawawu Owuda. We wish to state that, the information is false and an attempt to blackmail and malign the Local government Administrator. Hon. Abdulrazaq by his nature and political history is a humble, religious and non violence politician who has since brought peace and decorum to the political atmosphere of Okene Local government. It is normal for public office holders to disagree in the course of their official assignment but what happened yesterday right inside the office of the Administrator was a clear case of affront and insubordination on the part of the DLG. Okene Local government Administrator by virtue of his appointment is the head of the Council an such, he

ADDRESSING SECURITY CHALLENGES IN KOGI STATE

By: Dr. Musa Abdulrahman Adeiza President-General of Ebira Peoples Association (EPA) Ladies and Gentlemen Gentlemen of the Press It is with sadness and a sense of foreboding that we address you today regarding the alarming rate of insecurity and criminality in Kogi State, especially in Kogi Central Senatorial Zone. Members of the Ebira Peoples Association (EPA), the umbrella body of all Ebira people at home and in the Diaspora, are seriously concerned about the rampant cases of mindless killings, kidnappings, robberies and other violent crimes that have come to define every day life in our state. Despite the efforts of governments at all levels, criminals seem to operate freely and unhindered by the presence of a combined forces of police, soldiers and para-military agents. In the last one year, no week has passed without incidents of kidnapping, abduction and even murder in the state. Kogi state is geographically at the heart of this country as the only state that has land b

N260m: Office Of Kogi State Governor Replies Premium Times

After Premium Times yesterday reported that the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello allegedly squandered over N260m ‘security votes’ days after assuming office, his office has replied the media outlet saying it is far from the truth. Here’s what they sent in. The use of the word "squander", as far as I am concerned, is a clear abuse of the right to information. Every dime spent by the Governor can be accounted for. He has one of the lowest Security Fund in the nation which has even been underdrawn by his administration. It is a public knowledge that Kogi State has been contending with serious security breach for the past ten years. As a result of the location of the state as gateway to many states of the federation, the state drifted into a criminal hotbed. Also, years of gross maladministration and blinding embezzlement has left the youth bear, exposing them to all sort of criminal activities to survive. Kogi became a haven of robbers and kidnappers. As a responsible g

My Administration Will Continue to Respect Other Arms of Government, Gov Bello Assures Kogi Judiciary

I  Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has promised to accord the state judiciary the true independence that the arm of government deserves. I made the promise yesterday in Lokoja while receiving members of the State Judiciary Commission led by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, also tasked judges in the state to be professional in their dealings with people. Accordingly, “the job that you do, the intricacies of which lie beyond the understanding of many a man, demand no less. On an occasion such as this, no two principles will ring louder than Separation of Powers and Independence of the Judiciary. I will settle that dispute very summarily right now: my administration will respect both principles to the letter. “The Judiciary under my tenure will enjoy equity in the allocation of resources; will be autonomous in managing her finances and you will never find me trespassing into your official duties or capacities. Neither will I send or permit any person to do so on my behalf or th

Alh. Bello recollected with nostalgia, how the late Senior Advocate of Nigeria joined other progressive minded individuals around the country to drive the intellectual pillars of the All Progressives Congress, describing the late Ocholi as a complete gentleman who was irrevocably committed to the advancement of Nigeria. The Governor also expressed deep sadness over the death of other members of the late Minister's family who were also victims of the ghastly accident which occurred along the Kaduna-Abuja road. RE: THAT GOVERNANCE MAY WORK IN THE INTEREST OF ALL IN KOGI STATE

The Ebira Renaissance Group (ERG) has read with keen interest the publication of Kogi East Elders’ Council on the Graphic newspaper of Wednesday, the 3rd of February, 2016 and is quick to place it in context in order to humbly but appropriately react to it for appreciable mutual understanding given the tone of the subtle threats contained in the write up. A man can be as good as his words especially when a group of distinguished elders representing a community make a statement, the benefit of doubt should be given to assume that they are as worthy as their words. A deeper look at the characterization of KEEC and its aversion would quickly earn them a similitude to the fictional characters of the “Chichidodos” who hate excrement with a passion but feed on maggots. It is in this light that the ERG would want to make the following clarification and comments. The title itself is an admission that hitherto, the government of Kogi State has not been working in the interest of all, we are ha

Governor Yahaya Bello Abolishes Deductions from Local Government Allocations

Press Release The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday, 9th February 2016, abolished arbitrary deductions from the allocations of Local Government Councils in the state. Alh. Bello frowns at the various deductions from the council allocations by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, saying state laws cannot override the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He directed the Ministry to submit their running cost to the Office of the Governor and stop exploiting the Local Government Councils. He urged Council Chairmen to ensure pensioners and teachers are paid their pensions and salaries this month. Gov. Bello urged the Chairmen to ensure Council workers are promptly paid their full wages, warning against profligacy saying the Chairmen must account for every penny received from the Federation Account. He urged the Council Chairmen to execute projects that will impact positively on the people of the state, reiterating his desi

On Kogi Worker's conditional salary payment

Yahaya Bello has directed that civil servants are only required to complete the data forms provided in their ministries, agencies and parastatals to qualify for immediate payment of salaries. Government's policy on data collection in the Kogi State Civil Service is primarily aimed at weeding out ghost workers to make it convenient for government to pay genuine and bonafide civil servants. Governor Yahaya Bello has decided to relax the conditions stipulated in the earlier announcement, as civil servants would not be required to provide the documents. The Governor has responded to the pulse of the workers by requesting them to only complete the forms without attachment of credentials to qualify for immediate payment. Government expects the wo
