Ovidi Family Pays Courtesy Visit To Ohinoyi of Ebiraland

26th September 2025 The OVIDI Family paid a courtesy visit to the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRH Dr. Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, at his palace in Okene. Elder Fortune Omuya Salawu , speaking on behalf of the team, congratulated the King on his ascension to the throne and commended his efforts in promoting Ebira cultural heritage. The Ovidi Family's visit aimed to strengthen their relationship with the Royal Majesty and the esteemed throne. Elder Fortune suggested areas for improvement, including the Ebira Unity Festival, which could unite Sons and Daughters of Ebira and showcase their cultural heritage, such as weaving clothes and crafts. The King appreciated the family's visit and welcomed their suggestions. He assured them that the palace council in collaboration with groups are working on bringing their ideas on the suggested issues to become reality. Ohinoyi Ebira Received Kwararafa People's Assembly

Kwararafa is known as one of the ancient and strongest Kingdoms in the history of Nigeria.  The president of the group Hon. Leo Densak Saje who after showering prayers and eulogy on His Royal Majesty, said the group realised that the Kwararafa has made name in the past, he listed some tribes that are under the old Kwararafa Kingdom such as Jukun, Nupe, Idoma, Ebira, Igala, Ngas and many more that are spread across 28 states.  They are in the palace of Ohinoyi of Ebira to support the vision as they had started the journey from the palace of Aku Uka, the Attah Igala and now at the Ohinoyi of Ebira palace to support the vision toward establishing Kwararafa Council and Kwararafa traditional ruler's council to enhance and unify the tribes in the Council. One Injured As Masqueraders Clash With Soldiers in Okene

Heavy gunshots rang through the town of Okene today when followers of a popular masquerade engaged in a violent confrontation with men of the Nigerian Army. An eye witness who spoke with EbiraView Media on condition of anonymity narrated the trail of event that led to the violent clash. Acoording to the eye witness accounts, trouble started when a soldier in mufti was accosted in Okene town and was beaten by a masquerade known as Akamawu from Kuroko community of Adavi local government. The soldier was said to have reported the encounter to his colleagues guarding CCECC expatriates staff yard around  Inoziomi area. EbiraView Media further gathered that as the masquerade and the followers approached the Inoziomi community, they were ambushed by the military men around Kahal Cinema area and then started firing into the air to disperse the crowd before descending on the masquerade. Senator Natasha commissions legacy projects to mark one year in office

Lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, marked her one year in office on Saturday, by distributing empowerment materials and launching some projects across the district.    The lawmaker was joined by her colleagues from the Senate to commemorate the historic event. First was the commissioning of the 1km road network at the Abdul Azeez Atta Memorial College Okene by the senate Minority Leader Distinguished Senator Abba Moro.  Senator Tahir Monguno followed by commissioning the reconstruction and remodeling of the Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College in Okene. Public School Land Encroachment: Proudly Anebira Forum Calls for Government Intervention

Kabir To curb the rising spate of encroachment on public school lands in Kogi Central Senatorial district, an advocacy group, Proudly Anebira Forum has called for government's intervention to forestall the anomaly. In a renewed advocacy to save public schools in Ebiraland from extinction, the group berated the senseless encroachment and acquisition of lands within and around public primary and secondary schools across the community. It is believed that school lands are being sold to desperate people by jobless youth under the pretext of clannish ownership, a development that has reduced most schools to residential areas. Ajaokuta Ownership Tussle - Group Cautions Indigenes Against Violence

By Ismail M. Kabir, Lokoja A coalition of concerned Ebira interest groups has cautioned against acts of tribal incitement and violence in the ongoing legal tussle over the ownership of Ajaokuta land. The caution was contained in a release by the Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Special Projects, Hon. Abdulkarim Onyekehi Suleiman following a historic visit to the native village of Ajaokuta by various groups and relevant stakeholders. The visit, led by the Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) and government appointees from Ajaokuta LGA to the palace of Ohiete of Ajaokuta, the leading traditional ruler of the area also culminated into delivery of a World Press Conference on the legal battle for the true owners of Ajaokuta between Ebira people and the Igalas. Save Our Road: Community cry out to incoming Kogi State governor

By Ismail M. Kabir Youths from Idapokiti community of Okene have cried out to the incoming governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello to save their road from collapse. The call was made last recently as the youths commenced another round of community rehabilitation work on the dilapidated Idoji-Badoko road, 3 years after similar approach was adopted to make the road motorable after years of neglect by successive administrations of Okene Local government Area. "This is the second time such effort is being employed to save this badly eroded road from total collapse", a youth in the area told Ebiraview. Earlier in 2012, youths from the community poured out in droves to fill the roads with rocks and laterites from the hills.
