A coalition of concerned Ebira interest groups has cautioned against acts of tribal incitement and violence in the ongoing legal tussle over the ownership of Ajaokuta land.
The caution was contained in a release by the Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Special Projects, Hon. Abdulkarim Onyekehi Suleiman following a historic visit to the native village of Ajaokuta by various groups and relevant stakeholders.
The visit, led by the Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) and government appointees from Ajaokuta LGA to the palace of Ohiete of Ajaokuta, the leading traditional ruler of the area also culminated into delivery of a World Press Conference on the legal battle for the true owners of Ajaokuta between Ebira people and the Igalas.
Hon. Onyekeki said the delegation reminded the good people of Ajaokuta of the need to eschew violence and cooperate with Gov. Yahaya Bello's government's commitment to peaceful resolution of the matter.
The release reads thus:
Earlier today, we made a historic visit to the palace of Ohiete of Utenyi at the native village of Ajaokuta.
We used the occasion to sue for peace, patience and cooperation with government at all levels under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello who stands for equity, justice, fairness and progress of his people.
We reminded the good people of Ajaokuta of the commitment of Gov. Yahaya Bello to the harmonious coexistence of Kogi citizens just as he has assured that "the era of imperialism is over".
We therefore cautioned against anyone taking the laws into their hands as government will not condone any act of tribal incitement and violence.
