EbiraView Magazine; Special (Full) Edition

This edition is a special edition for the famous Ebira Peace Project (EPP); the formation and evolution of the first and biggest peace project in Ebiraland. It is about 40 pages and loaded with pictures and details of all you ever wanted to know of EPP in its entirety. Hundreds of people have indicated interest in our past editions and a lot of requests were placed on our request page for free copies of the magazine. Those who couldn't get a copy of previous editions can re-apply for their copies of this full edition which will be rolled out in thousands of copies, for FREE! Before we hit the print, it is an opportunity for willing advertisers to showcase their products/services in our very limited advert spaces. Hurry, book the back page now before its too late! AIDS Crisis Response Team (ACRT) arrives Okene

The AIDS Crisis Response Team (ACRT) is in Okene and will be conducting HIV/AIDS - free campaign to Ebira public in conjuction with Ebira youths as volunteers. The team arrived Nigeria on monday, July 7th 2008 at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The program is expected to begin Thursday, 11th of July 2008 and will be published on Images of Ebiraland as the team moves from place to place. Places expected to be visited include Okene general hospital among others. Terry Sebastian , one of the team members, was not sure what to expect, fearing absense of internet services required to update their blog while in Nigeria. Terry however promised that they would deliver the much needed supplies themselves to make sure the team get to the people that need them the most. EbiraView hopes to deliver real-time web coverage of their activity in Okene to Ebiras and the world. Our team is set to leave for Okene at the early hours of Thursday, 11th July. Launch of Al-Amin College in Lagos

Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad Okatahi, an Ebira educationist, spiritual cleric and one time school head teacher of Al-Hilal Islamic Nursery and Primary School, G.R.A Okene, who relocated to Lagos where he has lived for over a decade, founded Al-Amin College to fulfill his desire to uplifting moral standard of the muslim children particularly in his residential community in Lagos. Since the commmunity, Akiode area of Ojodu is owned and dominated by muslims, he was promptly suppported by the elders and leaders in the area who provided the temporary site and some study materials that influenced the birth of Al-Amin college on the 4th of October, 2005. At her third (3rd) year, Alhaji Okatahi gathered parents, community and traditional leaders beside other eminent personalities of Ebira origin residing in Lagos for the Launch and fund raising for the college. Talking drum (Gogonyi) in Ebiratainment

Virtually in every Ebira traditional event or festival, the talking drum always play a special role in the local rythm. 'Oni gogonyi' the drummer takes this art very serious as they move their body to the rythm produced from the musical tool..more soon.

Eku performs the Ebira dance step

While leaving Okene for Iloring in the final leg of our recent tour, I came across this entertaining Eku (Masquerade) and was impressed by its methodology. Ogedembe, a controversially named Ebira Masquerade (Eku) specialises in the art of 'Pay per dance' around Okunchi area of Ogaminana, Adavi LG of Kogi state.
