Ebira Personality: Dr. Tom Adaba

Dr. Thomas Aaze Adaba, an internationally acclaimed broadcaster/media expert, was born on the 2 nd of July, 1941 . He hails from Okene local Government Area of Kogi State.He attended Christ the King Catholic School , Okene 1947-1955. Junior Seminary, Okpala. Teachers College, Atangba 1956 – 1960.He proceeded to the United States of America for further studies between 1969 and 1971. He attended Ohio University , Indiana University and the University of Jos 1986-1989.He moved to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) where he held several positions between 1974-1977.

He was a Senior Producer, Principal Producer, Head of Presentation and Training, Controller and Manager of Programmes.He was the Principal, Television College , Jos 1980-1987.Assistant Director, Programmes Headquarters 1989-1990.General Manager, NTA Makurdi 1990-1991.Deputy Director, Operations H/Q.


In 1992, upon the deregulation of broadcasting, he was appointed the first/pioneer Director General. He held the position in 1999.He served the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the International Community in various capacities.President, African Council for Communication Education 1988-1992.Leader, Nigerian Delegation, UNICEF sponsored workshop on Animation.Resource person, UNESCO workshop on Audio-Visual.Board member, Kwara Printing and Publishing Corporation.Member, Information, African Council for Communication Education.Executive Board member, Plateau Publishing Company, Jos.President, Association of Catholic Mass Media Professionals, Jos Chapter.Head of Broadcast Operation, World Scouts Jamboree.


He is a member of several Professional bodies.
Member, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.Member, International Association of Mass Communication Education.To his Credit are the following Books:Communication Training and Practise in Nigeria , 1987.Communication Industry in Nigeria , Crisis of Republication, 1988.
He is a recipient of John F. Kennedy Graduate Programme Essay, Nigeria 1991-1992.He is the Ohi Etulueyi of Ebira Land .He is presently the Chairman/Chief Executive – Trim Communications and Public Relations firms. Managing Director/Chief Executive – Trim Travels and Tours.


Director – DAAR Communications Limited – the proprietor of Raypower 100.5FM, African Independent Television (AIT) the First Global Satellite Broadcasting Organisation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and RayPower 106.5FM.


He is happily married with children. He loves music, photography, reading and tennis.

One Injured As Masqueraders Clash With Soldiers in Okene

Heavy gunshots rang through the town of Okene today when followers of a popular masquerade engaged in a violent confrontation with men of the Nigerian Army. An eye witness who spoke with EbiraView Media on condition of anonymity narrated the trail of event that led to the violent clash. Acoording to the eye witness accounts, trouble started when a soldier in mufti was accosted in Okene town and was beaten by a masquerade known as Akamawu from Kuroko community of Adavi local government. The soldier was said to have reported the encounter to his colleagues guarding CCECC expatriates staff yard around  Inoziomi area. EbiraView Media further gathered that as the masquerade and the followers approached the Inoziomi community, they were ambushed by the military men around Kahal Cinema area and then started firing into the air to disperse the crowd before descending on the masquerade. Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news.
