Screening excercise for the 2nd phase of Community Free Eye Care Service by Asmau Foundation for Orphans and the less priviledged has commenced.
The exercice begun Monday, the 22nd of March 2010 at the Local government health centre, Okene. Anyone willing to benefit from the service is expected to attend the screening exercise to ascertain the required treatment for their eyes.
Experts from within and outside Kogi state have arrived for the service which is expected to cater for about 1,000 people including free eye operation for 300 cataract patients. Free drugs and counselling are also available for people with minor eye defects.
The first phase of the exercise held last year catered for about 800 people with a total of 87 free eye operations. Asmau Foundation is committed to alleiviating the suffering of the less priviledged in the society with special focus on orphans.
