EbiraView is 10 years old!

It is our 10 years Anniversary.

Today marks the first decade of  EbiraView online, a service that commenced on September 4th, 2004 as a Yahoo group that gradually metamorphosed into the first most authoritative online platform for Ebira communities around the world.

We thank our numerous readers, followers, fans and well wishers for the support and encouragement that have taken us this far. Over the years, we have featured prominently on the world wide web in the showcase of Ebira events and heritages. Our online presence include ebiraview.com, ebiraview.net, ebiraview.com.ng, ebiraview.WordPress.com and ebiraview.blogspot.com and Ebira Social Network. While some of highlighted web addresses have been discontinued, others are available and functioning.

On social media, we have over 8 years of active presence on Blogger (Images of Ebiraland), Facebook (EbiraView group and EBIRAVIEW page), Picasa, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and YouTube (EbiraView channel). These massive online engagement has placed us on the index whenever a Google search on Ebira is conducted.

I also want to express a very special gratitude to my co-founder, AbdulRahman Dele who was the first to embrace this dream. His passion for the success of the project was enormous. Though his moment with EbiraView was short-lived, his contribution was immense and his impact remains memorable.

Special thanks to my first team, Muhammed Danjuma (Coordinator, Home front), Abdulrahman Idris (Research and Marketing), Maryam Oremeyi Yusuf (Face of EbiraView), Usman Omeiza Aliyu (PRO) and Abdulmumin Suleiman (Abuja correspondent).

We are also specially grateful to Captain Abdul Alliu (Dallas, Texas) for securing our American registration and popularising the service in the USA. We appreciate Adai Nasir Anaza of Texas, Mr. Mathew Raji Andah for his Germany coverage, Ebira community in United Kingdom and the Ebira Vonya International for their collaborations from the Diaspora.

At the local front, we remain eternally grateful to our highly revered Adai Damisa Suleiman (Director, ESS Project Concepts Ltd) whose contributions to the growth and survival of EbiraView services remain unparalleled.

Most significant among his collaboration is the birth and sole sponsorship of EbiraView News magazine, a community tabloid that is fast gaining acceptance in Ebiraland.

We will not forget the impact of well meaning individuals whose generous donations kept us afloat. The benevolent individuals include Late Ayuba Kilani (of blessed memory), Usman Anibasa, Musa Itopa Jimoh, Abu Imam, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, Dr. Samuel Ahovi Abdul, Hamza Usman, Muhammed Adomu Etudaiye, Hajia Halimat Usman and several other people that have contributed to the survival of this selfless service to Ebira land.

As we hit the first decade in the service of projecting Ebira image at the world stage, we wish to inform our teeming followers that new features will be rolled out in the coming weeks to mark this important anniversary.

We, therefore, want to assure you of improved service delivery as we begin to spread our tentacles beyond borders while we invite willing collaborators to join us as partners in progress.

Among other features to expect is the live audio stream of EbiraView Radio, the roll out of EbiraView App for instant delivery of rich contents materials to mobile devices running on Android and other operating systems, among others.

Besides service improvement, our local news coverage will be extended to remote parts of Ebira land to tell the stories  and capture exciting moments of the unheard people of the hamlets.

As a pioneer in digital reportage of Ebira concerns, we shall be leveraging on our landmark to offer the best to our teeming followers in the nearest future. This we hope to deliver in compliance with evolving technology as we pray that the Almighty Allah strengthen us with the wisdom and wherewithal to sustain the service for the years ahead, ameen.
Thank you all for your stewardship.

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte...

The Obege legend

In the earliest generations when the art of magic was yet a myth to the people, there was born a boy into a family of hunters in the village of Eika - one of the six communities that comprised the ancestral groups. He was believed to have been born with a leaf in his hand and to the elders of then, that was prognostic of what he would be - a native healer. And had grown up performing wonders. His kinsmen were all hunters, they would deny the boy the opportunity to follow them hunting, purely on age ground - and he was really too young to go hunting in the forest. They would leave him in the house with the women as they set out on their hunting expedition. But they had meet the young Obege in the forest roasting a fair member of the forest’s game, all alone - and unarmed! The elders had to defer to this wonderful boy. Obege as an adult was more than human. His fame had spread all over the land: he was a healer of most seemingly incurable diseases, he was a rain maker, assumed more divin...
