I may not know about measures adopted by other Nigerian banks in the nationwide public sensitization on Ebola Virus Disease but with my experience today in Lokoja, I think Guarantee Trust Bank is getting more precise in the fight against the spread of the deadly virus.
Just as customers approach the Lokoja branch of GTB, they're greeted by a friendly security guard who leads every customer with his charming smile towards a transparent plastic container where they're politely requested to wash their hands.
Afterwards, the guard who appeared to be specially trained for this 'added' task proceeds to point his handheld Ebola scanning device at the customers' ears and other parts of the body before waving them a welcome to GTB.
Cautious as it may appear, it was evident that not all customer was comfortable with the 'unsolicited hand wash'. Yet, some fun seeking folks were requesting for an extra treat after completing their transaction as a parting 'wash'.
Whatever informed them of the idea also invited water splash around the bank premises plus the irritating sight of the used up tissue papers.
At least prevention, they say, is cheaper than cure.
