Unknown gunmen attack Adogo police station

Suspected unknown gunmen, on Sunday, attacked and bombed the police station at Adogo,  headquarters of  Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The gunmen, entered the town around 9.00 p.m. in the evening, with  a Hilux Toyota pick up van, with the intention of stealing weapons in the armory of the police station

A source told the Nigerian Tribune,  that the gunmen started shooting immediately they entered the town to scare away people, adding that they released the dynamite which blew up the station as soon as they got to the station.

 No life was lost in the attack at the station according to the statement from the state police command.

The Police Public Relation Officer, ASP  Elvis Aguebor, confirmed the attack explaining  that “ robbers came from different directions apparently desirous of carting away police arms”,adding that the  police on duty swiftly took position and returned fire power.

He  pointed out that the attackers launched  a heavy dynamite and demolished and set  part of police station ablaze.

He informed  that the intention  of the hoodlums was to cart  away the arms which was aborted by the quick response of police officers, who later evacuated the arms.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Paul Nwafor and other officers had also gone to the scene of the incident at Adogo.

“Meanwhile, the State Police Command, is appealing to members of the public, to report anybody seen with bullet wound to the nearby police station or other security agencies, please”.

One Injured As Masqueraders Clash With Soldiers in Okene

Heavy gunshots rang through the town of Okene today when followers of a popular masquerade engaged in a violent confrontation with men of the Nigerian Army. An eye witness who spoke with EbiraView Media on condition of anonymity narrated the trail of event that led to the violent clash. Acoording to the eye witness accounts, trouble started when a soldier in mufti was accosted in Okene town and was beaten by a masquerade known as Akamawu from Kuroko community of Adavi local government. The soldier was said to have reported the encounter to his colleagues guarding CCECC expatriates staff yard around  Inoziomi area.
