Staff moving their items |

In a fire brigade approach, occupants of the ULO building, Wuse zone 5, Abuja have been ejected!
At about 8:30am this morning, I was heading for a bank transaction at the Zone 5 branch of Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) located within the ULO building in Wuse zone 5. Just few meters to the bank laid a long traffic jam.
I quickly disembarked to trek the rest of the distance. But to my awe, a heap of office equipments and related items blocked the entrance gate to the building.
Staff of various organizations resident in the building were making frantic phone calls to their superiors as heavily armed security men positioned themselves around the area.
There was no clear account of the reason for the eviction but spectators in the area held varying views. While some said it was due to a court injuction that issued a quit notice to the occupants, others said a row between the original owner of the plot and the owner of the ULO building.
The 5-storey building, situated opposite the Grand Ibro Hotel was a beehive of activity as company staff carted their belongings out of the the building with help from the menial jobbers.
Tension heightened when policemen attached to the building argued with detachment of evicting policemen. One of the police officers cocked his gun in an apparent deterrent.
Directors and other high ranking staff of the affected organizations stood helpless and stranded as the junior staff move items including personal effects to every available space around the building.
