Read what the group that obtained nomination for Sanusi Abubakar said at the APC secretariat

SPEECH BEING DELIVERED BY DR JEROME OHIKERE ON THE OCCASION OF COLLECTING INTENT FORM FOR KOGI STATE’S GOVERNORSHIP RACE ON BEHALF OF ALHAJI SANUSI ABUBAKAR.

Protocol,
We like to appreciate the courage and vision we share that made all of us to be here today to purchase this nomination form in the absence of our proposed principal. For most of us, we are trying to demonstrate our love for our state by our determination to sourcing for one of the most credible men to steer its affairs since this is the only state we can lay claim on.

We seek nomination for Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Aliyu (GAMJI). An endorsement for this man is anchored on the premise of his track record of demonstrable, verifiable and progressive self-development in a man who has made enormous and positive impact on the society. GAMJI, as he is fondly called, has all the great qualities of a contemporary leader starting with the fact that he is visionary, charismatic, accessible, available and ready to put forward his material resources to elevate humanity. He is humility personified and this is demonstrable by his involvement with people at the ggrassroots at all times.  His technical capability and mental power he has used to build a business conglomerate which has been one of the greatest sources of private employment destination for the people of Kogi state and Nigerian at large.

He has deployed a rare charismatic and cerebral capacity to manage profitably and successfully in the private sector with minimal involvement in the public sector which was the factor he leveraged upon in his very early age. This is the core values that stood him out as an incorruptible personality and the choice for the present ‘CHANGE’ Nigeria that we all seek. Indeed, we have begun a process that will bring on board a man with excellent character to represent quality leadership, leveraging on his technical capacity and capabilities from the organized private sector in rescuing the soul of Kogi State from a comatose state, even when the state is by endowment the most resourceful in Nigeria.
We will not condemn the efforts of the present and past administrator of the state, after all, one can hardly give what he does not possess but suffice to mention that since the fortunate creation of the state in August, 1991 and the coming together of quality people of Kogi State with massive natural resources within our topography as well as the most strategic location, the core opportunities that needed to have been harnessed for the better development of the greater majority across the senatorial districts and beyond ethno-cultural and religious barriers have been wasted. We like to emphasize here that poor and deficient leadership is anti-people and an enemy of the whole.

The leadership team in our state since the beginning is lopsided both in capacity, capability and resources distribution. As such, it falls short to provide what could be termed the contemporary elements of modern day development thereby leaving our state to litter with uncompleted projects, discontinuous plans and broken promises. Its power configuration and alignment only promote and protect privileged few who are related to the aristocratic ruling house while the very greater majority weep in despair for attention.  The basic services such as healthcare, education, creation of necessary amenities that is required for the survival and development of the masses have only been in the imagination of a few people with progressive mind. This is what resulted into this rescue movement to endorse ALH SANUSI ABUBAKAR, a kind and gentleman per excellence and a philanthropist extraordinaire.

While we assure you that there will be change in Kogi State in line with what we have begun at the national level which expectedly will cascade downward, we hereby reassure all the people who are in the process of making this lifetime landmark of change possible in our state that there is no better time than NOW. Let us send this clear message to ALH. SANUSI ABUBAKAR that the stage is set for one of his important missions in life which is to lead our state into the state of freedom and actualization.

We thank you all.

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte...

The Obege legend

In the earliest generations when the art of magic was yet a myth to the people, there was born a boy into a family of hunters in the village of Eika - one of the six communities that comprised the ancestral groups. He was believed to have been born with a leaf in his hand and to the elders of then, that was prognostic of what he would be - a native healer. And had grown up performing wonders. His kinsmen were all hunters, they would deny the boy the opportunity to follow them hunting, purely on age ground - and he was really too young to go hunting in the forest. They would leave him in the house with the women as they set out on their hunting expedition. But they had meet the young Obege in the forest roasting a fair member of the forest’s game, all alone - and unarmed! The elders had to defer to this wonderful boy. Obege as an adult was more than human. His fame had spread all over the land: he was a healer of most seemingly incurable diseases, he was a rain maker, assumed more divin...
