MY 'CLARION CALL' AS WE APPROACH THE DATE OF OUR DESTINY, January 27th

By Basit Imam Dankudi

The Inauguration Events for Governor Elect Alhaji Adoza Yahaya Bello. The 4th Executive Governor of Kogi State.

My warmest greetings to Ebira Opete, Ebira Etuno, Ebira Agatu, Ebira Toto, to all our great ancestors and all our brothers and Sisters, the Igalas, the Okuns and all other stakeholders in Kogi State and beyond.

Once again, I great you all.

This victory we are about to celebrate is a victory for all Kogi people.

Alhaji Adoza Yahaya Bello's victory is ordained by God almighty and anointed. His success is for all Kogites regardless of tribe, religion, ethnicity, sex or race.
By his own words: I will run an inclusive government where everyone is a partner in the democratic process of our state.
As we prepare for this historic event, I wish to appeal to everyone to make this event a pageant one, for peace and security.

We want everyone to participate with love and compassion to make it the best in the history of the state.

It is time to extend hands of friendship across all spectrum of our society and amongst those you may have different opinions.

We must pray and remind ourselves the greatness of Almighty Allah for this wonderful and unbelievable change we have been clamouring for.

He so designed it, sealed it, delivered it and protected it.

To my people in Central Senatorial District, there is an adage that says, a person who carries red oil fears the person that carries firewood.

We are not in war with any tribe. Whether we like it or not, we need ourselves today, tomorrow and forever more.

Therefore, if you have masquerade and like to celebrate, it should be limited to your locality after obtaining permit from the relevant authorities where and when necessary. If you have "OTUMOPO" (Keep it at home) as we are not going for any war.

This warning has become very necessary as Central is already noted a flash point and all the security operatives are combat ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

Ebira people are known as very hardworking people, progressive and neat. We are not thieves. To before warn is to before armed and a stitch in time saves nine.

Finally, security matters are the responsibility of everyone.

Be vigilant and be your brothers keeper on this historic event. We should conduct ourselves in a manner that will surprise all our detractors who are anticipating that we are going to fail.

Avoid any forms of violence against anyone.

Be polite and friendly by showing that we, Anebira have come of age in peace and harmony.

May God almighty bless Alhaji YB Fair Plus, Governor elect and you as we look ahead to build together, Kogi State of our dreams.

Amen

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte

The Obege legend

In the earliest generations when the art of magic was yet a myth to the people, there was born a boy into a family of hunters in the village of Eika - one of the six communities that comprised the ancestral groups. He was believed to have been born with a leaf in his hand and to the elders of then, that was prognostic of what he would be - a native healer. And had grown up performing wonders. His kinsmen were all hunters, they would deny the boy the opportunity to follow them hunting, purely on age ground - and he was really too young to go hunting in the forest. They would leave him in the house with the women as they set out on their hunting expedition. But they had meet the young Obege in the forest roasting a fair member of the forest’s game, all alone - and unarmed! The elders had to defer to this wonderful boy. Obege as an adult was more than human. His fame had spread all over the land: he was a healer of most seemingly incurable diseases, he was a rain maker, assumed more divin
