Alleged Interference by Aisha Buhari, Governor Bello’s Opponents Are Confused – Kingsley Fanwo

The Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo has accused opponents of the Governor of lacking in direction in their attempts at slowing down the pace of change in the state.
Addressing journalists at Odo Owa, Kwara State, Fanwo said the allegation of meddlesomeness in the affairs of Kogi against Mrs Aisha Buhari by some disgruntled elements in the party shows they do not have direction. He said the allegation, coming on the heels of the China investment breakthrough has given up the elements as enemies of Kogi progress.
“After their failed attempts at destabilizing the House of Assembly, they graduated into the spurious acts of sponsoring vandalization of government properties. But now, all they hold on to is to blackmail respected Nigerians including the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari.
“What the opponents of the Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s administration do not understand is how the Governor has been able to become so popular among the people as a result of his system-saving, welfarist policies since assuming office”.
Fanwo said the staff verification exercise of the present administration will open a can of worms that will shock the entire country. He frowned at the discreet attempt of people who are bent on subverting popular program of the Governor to expose “economic saboteurs masquerading as ghost workers”.
“It will interest the public to know that the verification committee has already  unearthed many ghost workers. The Yahaya Bello administration is attaching so much importance to this in line with his promise to ensure Kogi resources work for Kogi people.
“The committee has discovered many ghost workers who are into other employments in Kaduna, Lagos and other places and still take salaries from the coffers of Kogi State Government. These are the real enemies of the Kogi people. These are the people who are making it impossible for our youth population to secure jobs. They are the ones taking away the resources which would have gone into providing water, good roads, quality education and healthcare facilities. As a responsible and responsive Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has made it a matter of priority to fish out ghost workers and save funds for development”.
The Chief Press Secretary called on the people of the state to keep supporting the administration of Gov. Bello, assuring them of fair distribution of developmental projects under the present administration in the state.
“We know the people behind the media splurge against the present administration. They are those who are dazed by the level of acceptance the Governor is enjoying. They are those who cannot comprehend why the state is making waves in the face of the economic downturn around the nation.
“Roads are going through rehabilitation across the state and many sectors of the economy are currently receiving attention. The fairness in appointments under this administration is unprecedented.
“The Governor also wishes to express gratitude to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari for facilitating the proposed establishment of a refinery in Kogi State. The project is expected to turnaround the economy of the state and the nation at large”.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello is poised to make Kogi State the economic nerve-centre of the nation by creating an investment-friendly environment.

Ekuechi Festival Of Ebiraland

ORIGIN OF THE FESTIVAL There are few accounts of how the festival started. However, the differences inthese accounts are not fundamental. Generally, Ireba Eku (masquerade cult) wasbelieved to have been formed under the divine instruction of God to check the excesses of women, apart from serving as ancestor worship. Myth has it that aftercreating man and woman as husband and wife, one day God sent for the man but hewas too busy to honour the call. Instead, he requested his wife to heed God’s call onhis behalf. God gave her Irakwo (an egg-like object that contains the secrets of lifeand has the capacity to manifest supernatural powers) for her husband. Having dis-coveredits contents and being fascinated by them, she hid it in her uterus and laterswallowed it without giving it to her husband. She thereafter became quite powerful, performing supernatural feats as turning into any animal and changing back to ahuman being. She could instantly grow wings to fly around in astral travels. In about 1680 AD, they (along with the Idoma and Igala) migrated out of Wukari a chieftaincy dispute. The Ebira later split into various groups and settled in different locations between 1680 and 1750 AD. The Eb...
