HAUSA/FULANI COMMUNITY THANKED OKEHI LG COUNCIL ADMINISTRATOR IN FULFILMENT OF HIS PROMISE


The Hausa/Fulani Community from Okehi LGA were earlier in the day on an appreciation visit to the office of Okehi Local Government Council Administrator, Hon. Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare for yesterday's ground breaking of Cattle Market and Trailers park at Abobo along Lokoja road.

The Community Chairman Mall. Usman Alhassan who led the delegation used the medium to thanked the Council Boss for matching his words with actions. Mall. Usman explained that the project has been on negotiation with previous administration but they were grateful to Almighty ALLAH for witnessing the take off through Ohiare's led administration, he however plead for more partnership as they are ready to key into the repositioning project particularly in agriculture.

Responding to the presentation of the Community Leader, the Administrator noted that on his assumption of office, he has taken it upon himself in creating more room for generating revenue for the local government and with the completion of Cattle Market and Trailers Park the mission will be on course. Hon. Ohiare further added that, he is not in a haste in executing his programs rather he is interested in leaving a lasting legacies that will stand the test of time.

He then applauds the Hausa/Fulani committee for  accepting to partner with his government. The equally admonished them to extend same commitment to the State government under the leadership His Excellency *Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello* the Fourth Executive Governor of Kogi State.

Among the delegation are: Alhaji Danladi Aliyati, Mall. Haruna Ibrahim, Mall. Tukur Abukakar, Mall. Bashir Umar and others.

The other sister groups are Egbura Koto and Ebira Mozum (Kogi state), Ebira Panda, Ebira Oje/Toto (Nassarawa state), Ebira Etuno (Edo state), Ebira Agatu (Benue state) Ebira Oloko (Ondo/Oyo/Osun states). Written records about the origin of the Ebira people were those compiled from palace sources by the British colonial administrators in early 20th century. The Ebira, through oral tradition, trace their descent to Wukari (in the present Taraba state) where they were a constituent part of the Kwararafa confederation. In about 1680 AD, they (along with the Idoma and Igala) migrated out of Wukari a chieftaincy dispute.
