The executive chairman of Kogi Internal Revenue Service Board, ALHAJI OSENI YAKUBU*, who is known to be a young, active, diligent and humane to the services of the people and service to the New Direction government of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
What gave birth to the upgrading of the commission?
The former system lacks enough Staff and well trained staffs to undertake the system.
On his resumption April 2016, the staffs' strength was at the range of motion 290 of which most of them are aged, untrained and the operation were manually carried out which was so slow to attain the Kogi state target.
The most talked about and prominent among his achievements was the construction of the state revenue house that was highly financed and supported by the state government under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and coordinated by our visionary and humble chairman in person of Alhaji Oseni Yakubu.
With the completions of the project, more graduates which are mostly youths were employed to work on different capacities purposely to boost the generation of revenue in the state and at the same time, create employment opportunities.
The chairman out of his thoughtfulness, deem it fit that it doesn't befit the New Direction government agenda. He then retained 50 out of the former total staff strength and the remaining Staffs were absolved into the board of civil service commission as he has vowed in line with His Excellency not retrench any genuine civil servants.
When the operation use to be manual, the maximum revenue generation use to be about 250-300 million naira monthly. He changed the operation to be computer base and every tax payments are referred to the banking system. It was not subbed to the consultant and whatever the consultant remits, are boldly taken by the state government.
The present revenue has been jacked up to hit about 1 billion naira monthly by the chairman and his managements in the revenue board.
*MISSION OR MODUS OF THE CHAIRMAN*.
*People*: About *500* revenue officers were recruited. And *150* management Staffs and managers were also employed respectively, to help and ease the operation of the tax collection that has drastically reduced the unemployment rate in Kogi state.
*Assessment*: The employed Staffs were trained and are still undergoing training to access their capacities and improve them in the quest of discharging their respective duties.
*Automation*: The automation of the collection of tax across Kogi state to block leakages. The enforcement of automation is on the vogue to stop every leakages.
*Technology*: He is working tirelessly to make the KGIRS system to be technologically updated to ease the general public from unbearable/unnecessary stress usually encountered in the process of paying taxes and help them gain access to the running of the taxes paid.
