aimed at addressing rising cases of sight defects amongst people in
rural communities across Nigeria.

Treatment outreach includes Visual Acuity, Refraction, Tonometry,
Viewing of the Fundus and Dispensation of Medicated Glasses to over 300
targeted beneficiaries across Adavi-Eba and environs within Adavi Local
Government Area of Kogi State.

Council of Nigeria.
Convener of the outreach,
Engr. Ahuoiza Mary Kumode commended the community leaders for their
maximum cooperation in ensuring appreciable turnout of the deserving
beneficiaries of the programme.
Engr. Mary
noted that her intention for floating the initiative was to fulfill her
burning desire to alleviate the pains and despair of people with various
sight defects within the rural communities who lack the requisite
resources to afford treatment.
She
said her little contribution is further boosted by the collaboration of
the medical team from Adavi-Eba Cottage hospital, support from spirited
individuals and encouragement from family and friends.
While
appreciating everyone who has ensured the smooth takeoff of the
outreach, Engr. Ahuoiza pledged to sustain the effort by referring
advanced cases to the relevant healthcare centers for better attention
while extending the gesture to more communities in the days ahead.
She
further used the occasion to appeal for more support from government,
civil society organization and corporate bodies towards safeguarding the
sights of the poor and vulnerable in the community.
Over 60 people were provided refractive eye glasses among various free eye treatments that was administered on the patients.
The outreach will continue till Friday, 4th of June 2021.
