Alleged Supply of Fake Transformer: Community Debunks Allegation, Commends Dr. Sanusi Ohiare

By Ismail M. Kabir

The Ohi of Ihima, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdulraheem Ogido has debunked the allegation of supply of a fake electricity transformer to Ikuehi community by Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, the Executive Director of Rural Electrification Fund.
Dr. Sanusi Ohiare

The denouncement was sequel to a meeting of Ikuehi Development Association (IDA) held on Monday at the Ohi's palace in Ikuehi, to address the unfounded allegation against the prompt intervention they received from a son of the soil to the plight of the community.

An online news blog, Kogibiography.com has published a story on September 19th 2021 with the headline "Buhari Appointee Sanusi Ohiare Allegedly Donated Fake Transformer To His People" where the publisher, one Daniel Onimisi Ford suggested that the transformer donated out of kind gesture to Ikuehi community of Okehi local government area in Kogi State was rejected for being a refurbished one.

HRH Alhaji Abdulraheem Ogido who is the traditional ruler of Ihima frowned at the misleading publication, describing it as spurious and a fake news. He said that "we are not aware of the publication until our attention was drawn to the issue this morning. We consider the act as an afront on the community to make such a spurious allegation on our own son that responded to our plight when the area was thrown into darkness following the breakdown of our transformer".

On his part, the community chairman Mallam Muhammed Ajayi said that the Ikuehi Development Association appreciate the prompt intervention received from Dr. Ohiare and confirmed the transformer to be in perfect condition.

His royal highness, however, said the community will tender apology to Dr. Sanusi Ohiare over the baseless allegation while urging him to remain focused in his laudable service of lighting up rural communities across Nigeria and not to be dettered by detractors.

The case of Ahmed Awela, Murtala (Eti Bobo) among other Ebira youths

Ismail M. Kabir, Lagos. Between controversial existence and a contentious exit. There are various sides to a story. For an event that happens with few or no significant eye witness, the news come in different versions; some partially correct, others completely cooked up. In some cases, such non-witnessed event pass round as rumour until eventually confirmed. Rumour it was, when a phone call from Okene announced the death of two famous Ebira youths! They were killed by the Police, reported the news. Being on a Sunday when nothing too special should ensue save for the usual church services and social functions, the news sounded as the most unexpected, as a matter of fact, incredible! The thought of losing such youths on an ordinary day like Sunday undoubtedly was the reason for the astonishment. Not a single person of Ebira origin, within or outside the soil would believe such shocker upon first hearing. Text messages, phone calls and of course physical enquiries lingered, all in an atte...
