The past two years have been challenging for enterprises around the world. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs were distressed with many shutting down leading to job losses and overall decline of our GDP. This is no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic amidst other economic hardships.
It is instructive to note that MSMEs accounts for 96% of businesses, 84% employment and contributes to 48% of national Gross Domestic Product, GDP. This makes MSMEs very critical to the development of any economy through its potential for massive job creation.
Committed to overcoming the impact of the pandemic, the government of Kogi State among other smart business initiatives, showed resilience, not just in overcoming this painful disruption, but helping businesses thrive through public and private partnerships.
The Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA stands committed to enhancing the recovery and capabilities of MSMEs in the State. This is particularly in line with the plans of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello led administration to your growth and advancement as an entrepreneur, and that of your business.
We are positioned in 2022 to implementing four critical success factors required for business growth: a) Creating enabling environment. b) Facilitating access to funds. c) Capacity building, and. d) ICT enhancement for businesses.
We are optimistic that MSMEs in Kogi State are in for a positive turnaround in 2022. I therefore welcome you to a New Year of shared prosperity.
Happy New Year, Kogi MSMEs.
