OHINOYI EBIRA RECEIVED “ROYAL FATHER OF THE YEAR” AWARD

It was a moment of joy as His Royal Majesty, Ohinoyi Ebira, Alh. (Dr.) Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, was honored with the prestigious African Hero Award as the Traditional Ruler of the Year 2024. This recognition was bestowed upon him by Africa Image Communication for his outstanding contributions to community development, promoting peace, unity, and cultural heritage.

The award ceremony, held at the Ayonete Hotel and Suites in Lokoja, was attended by distinguished guests, including academicians, government officials, business leaders, and diplomats. They praised His Royal Majesty for his selfless leadership, noting that he treats everyone with love, concern, and fairness, regardless of their background or tribe.

His Royal Majesty's numerous initiatives and projects have had a profound impact on the community, promoting unity and peace. The CEO of Africa Image Communication, Mr. Charles Owa, emphasized that the nation could learn from His Royal Majesty's wisdom, particularly in promoting interfaith harmony and development. The usual interfaith monthly prayer services is a great feat to emulate.

The chairman of the occasion, Chief B. T. Y. Aina, described His Royal Majesty as a wise leader who inspires others with his words. He encouraged traditional leaders across Africa to emulate Ohinoyi Ebira's leadership style.

The award was presented to His Royal Majesty's representative, HRH Alhaji Abdullahi Ismaila Aliyu Onumoko II. In his response, Ohinoyi Ebira expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized that African leaders have the potential to excel in leadership. He concluded by praying for the organization's growth and the development of future leaders.

The other sister groups are Egbura Koto and Ebira Mozum (Kogi state), Ebira Panda, Ebira Oje/Toto (Nassarawa state), Ebira Etuno (Edo state), Ebira Agatu (Benue state) Ebira Oloko (Ondo/Oyo/Osun states). Written records about the origin of the Ebira people were those compiled from palace sources by the British colonial administrators in early 20th century. The Ebira, through oral tradition, trace their descent to Wukari (in the present Taraba state) where they were a constituent part of the Kwararafa confederation.
