Kogi State Government Partners Federal Government To Empower Youth Through Skill Acquisition Program

The Kogi State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Government, has launched a comprehensive Skills Acquisition and Youth Empowerment Program aimed at equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant skills for self-reliance and economic growth.

The initiative underscores the commitment of both governments to human capital development, recognizing that skill acquisition remains a critical driver of employment generation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic development. Through this partnership, young people across Kogi State will have access to quality technical and vocational training designed to prepare them for opportunities in today's competitive economy.

As part of the program, the Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA) has opened its Enterprise Development Hub in Okene for the enrollment and training of interested youths. The training will focus on developing practical competencies and entrepreneurial skills that will enable participants to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic advancement of the state while creating sustainable sources of income for themselves.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by registering through the designated application link. Enrollment will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and interested participants are advised to complete their registration promptly to secure a place in the program.

To support successful participation, beneficiaries will receive monthly stipends to cover transportation and feeding expenses throughout the training period. In addition, participants who successfully complete the program will be provided with startup kits to enable them to establish and grow their chosen ventures.

The Kogi State Government remains committed to creating opportunities that empower young people, reduce unemployment, and foster economic prosperity across the state. The other sister groups are Egbura Koto and Ebira Mozum (Kogi state), Ebira Panda, Ebira Oje/Toto (Nassarawa state), Ebira Etuno (Edo state), Ebira Agatu (Benue state) Ebira Oloko (Ondo/Oyo/Osun states). Written records about the origin of the Ebira people were those compiled from palace sources by the British colonial administrators in early 20th century. The Ebira, through oral tradition, trace their descent to Wukari (in the present Taraba state) where they were a constituent part of the Kwararafa confederation.
