It began with the arrival of the city people; those who have been away to the urban areas. It was an occassion many won't like to miss as Ebiras trooped home to celebrate yet another Eid (sallah festival) which coincided with the New year, 2007. From the 22nd of December 2006, Ebiraland began witnessing heavy traffic jams in such areas as okene and Ogaminana. It wasn't immediately clear whether the New year would bring people home as many have complained of the ecomonic situation of the country. Those who expected a low turn-out were disappointed as people arrived from different part of the country and beyond to celebrate sallah and New Year. The Bariki (Okene main) market was flooded with people shopping for the festival. Food stuffs, Clothings and Rams enjoyed huge turn overs. It has lived in Ebiraland for well over a decade, some claimed to have heard it speak while others consulted it for solutions to their nightmares. Wether any of the reports is true or not is not a concern any longer as the shrine custodian, Late Tijani 'Abo' as was popularly known, his wife and kid have left this world even before the revered shrine. At about 12:30pm on Thursday the 2nd of November 2006, a huge crowd gathered to witnessed the destruction of Abo's shrine around Okunchi area of Adavi, Kogi state. Just few minutes befores its death, the Amir of Jamiat Ahlul sunnah wal Jamma'ah, Ustaz Mustafa Idris addressed the crowd. He streessed the need for shunning fetish and occultic beliefs and embracing the worship of true and only One God, Allah. He called on Ebiras to desist from the act that had brought nothing to the land except violence and abject poverty. Each season, an Ebira farmer is preoccupied with one farming activity or the other. To accomplish these tasks, he, along with his family, settles away from home..in the farm. The farm known as 'Are' in Ebira dialect is a home away from home for the business minded farmer. He lives and spends most of his time there with ocassional visits to his town, his main home. Among the farmers, while some live there with their entire family, others prefer staying alone and fetching his family's need. Erosion may not have its way any longer on the muddy path that connects Enyinare to Agassa After many years of neglect, the Ahache road finally got an attention from the Ohize administration, Okene. To forestall further erosion, the use of concrete is employed in place of tar. Strectching from the Ozohu (Idoji) Junction through Enyinare (Iduka), the road is laid across Ahache to Agassa. Though hilly and sloppy at one point or the other, families and loved ones no longer engage in the long trek or the 360 degree journey through Okene from agassa to Enyinare.

Brooms waved, songs chanted and spirits high! Ebira youths stormed the highways in buses and cars as they head for the Action Congress (AC) rally in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.
