On Kogi Worker's conditional salary payment

Press Release February 04, 2016 The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello has directed that civil servants are only required to complete the data forms provided in their ministries, agencies and parastatals to qualify for immediate payment of salaries. The exercise shall commence on Friday, 5th February, 2016. Government's policy on data collection in the Kogi State Civil Service is primarily aimed at weeding out ghost workers to make it convenient for government to pay genuine and bonafide civil servants. The process is also expected to help government build a database of its workforce for effective planning. Governor Yahaya Bello has decided to relax the conditions stipulated in the earlier announcement, as civil servants would not be required to provide the documents. Barely three day Kogi state workers resumed work after forty days of strike action, the state chapter of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), has described the new plan by the Yahaya Bello led administration to screen workers before the payment of October 2015 as back-stabbing ‎and in bad faith. ‎The state governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley ‎Fanwo, has directed all civil servants to help in weeding out ghost workers from the state.  He stated that the wage bill has been over-bloated by over 300%, stating that ghost workers were partly responsible for the astronomical rise in wages in the state. The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Aliyu Baba Usman, has applauded the Executive Governor Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for the optimism and vigour with which he has commenced his reign at the helms of affairs, saying that early signs have shown the people of the state are in for good governance.
