Kogi: Former governor Audu, party chairman on war path, as crisis rocks APC

The centre cannot hold again in Kogi APC following mutual suspicion and cold war ranging among the stakeholders in the state over gubernatorial ticket.  Per Second News learnt that the quest to control party structure at ward, local and state levels is also tearing apart the party and the gubernatorial declaration event planned by the chairman, Haddi Ametuo. Ametuo, the party chairman who was allegedly imposed on the party by his estranged political god- father, Prince Abubakar Audu has now decided to part ways with the former governor.  The rumoured third term ambition of Abubakar Audu is said to be the bone of contention as his plot to have another shot at the Lugard House is having a devastating effect on the chances of Ametuo retaining his seat as party chairman. Unpaid Salary: Kogi Police fire tear gas, beat protesting Teachers

 BY BANABAS ATTAH- ABUJA (Per Second News ) Police on Thursday fired tear gas on primary school teachers in Kogi state during a protest over non payment of 2014 November and December salaries as well as  other entitlement and allowances. The teachers under the Basic Education Staff Association of Nigeria, (BASAN) who  converged at Nataco junction in Lokoja were on a peaceful protest to the office of the State Universal Basic Education Board, when the police engaged them. Per Second News learnt that some of the protesters sustained injuries.  Addressing Journalists before the police attack,the BESAN chairman, Comrade Adomu Sule, said the protest was in reaction to the statement credited to the Chairman of SUBEB that the state government was not owing basic education teachers. Supreme Court affirms Ado Ibrahim as Ebiraland monarch

By ADE ADE‎SOMOJU (Punch News). HRM Alh. Ado Ibrahim  The Supreme Court on Friday affirmed Alhaji Ado Ibrahim as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland of Kogi State. Ibrahim was appointed the paramount ruler of Ebrialand by the then Military Administrator of Kogi State, Col. Bzigu Afakirya, on June 2, 1997, but a suit challenging his appointment was instituted before the Kogi State High Court on March 6, 1998. Ibrahim appealed to the Supreme Court after he was ordered to be deposed by the concurrent judgments of both the Kogi State High Court where the matter started and subsequently the Jos Division of the Court of Appeal. Senator Deen Draws Lawmakers Attention to TaoFM

The senator representing Kogi-Central  senatorial district, Nuru-deen Usman Abatemi has drawn the attention of the lawmakers at the senate house to Tao FM radio in Okene which was bombed by unknown gunmen recently. The Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs who expressed himself on Wednesday while making contributions on the floor of the senate, presented the bombing of the station before the lawmakers. He urged the government to make necessary contributions to reviving the only working radio station in the district, despite that it is privately owned. Tao FM was bombed by unknown gunmen on the 27th April 2015 leaving four people dead.

Dokpesi Meets Adaba On Tao FM

The dust over the bombing of Tao fm radio station in Okene last week is yet to settle. How to rebuild the radio station as well as improve security for media houses in the country was the thrust of a meeting on Sunday between chairman emeritus of Daar Communications Plc, Aleogho Dokpesi, and a member of the board of directors of Tao fm, Tom Adaba. The meeting ended with a pledge by the Daar group to help rebuild Tao fm so it can resume transmission soon. A delegation from Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT and Raypower fm, visited a board member of Tao fm. The meeting was to review the level of damage on the Okene-based community radio station, and the Daar group was there to explore ways of helping Tao overcome it’s immediate challenge. Thousands Honour Slain Tao FM Radio Staff as Markets Close in Okene

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Okene, Kogi State, on Tuesday to protest the killing of four staff of Tao FM radio in a terrorist bomb blast. The spontaneous protest march was followed by the closure of all markets, banks, offices and commercial ventures in Kogi Central Senatorial District in honour of those killed and injured in the deadly night attack on the popular community radio. Protesters called on the federal and state governments as well as the security agencies to fish out those behind the attack. "We will not allow this to be swept under the carpet again like other unsolved killings in the area in the past", said a female protester who did not give her name. "We must find and punish those behind this crime. Enough is enough. This land belongs to all of us. No one can terrorize us".
