Battle For Kogi Governorship Hots Up, As 27 Jostle For APC Ticket

Published Aug 09, 2015 by Greenbarge Reporters The battle for the Kogi state governorship contest in November has began in earnest as no fewer than 27 aspirants under the canopy of All Progressives Congress (APC) have so far obtained the party’s expression of interest forms from the national secretariat in Abuja. Screening of the aspirants has been scheduled to begin tomorrow, Monday. With the number of aspirants, the party is believed to have had raked in N148 million from the sales of the expression of interest forms,  which costs N5.5 million each.

A top contender for the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) inthe forthcoming governorship poll in Kogi State, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has picked the party nomination form ahead of the primary election scheduled to hold on August 29, 2015. Speaking through his media adviser, Michael Jegede, in a statement issued after obtaining his form on Monday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Abatemi-Usman said he joined the gubernatorial race to salvage Kogi State from the utter state of backwardness it has been since its creation about twenty-four years ago.

Hon. Bello condemns Okene killing of policemen

Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bello has strongly condemed the killing of two policemen in Okene by unidentified gunmen. Hon. Abdullahi Bello Hon. Abdullahi Bello who is currently a member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency at the National Assembly described the act as barbaric, senseless and capable of undermining the relative peace in the community.  Two policemen from the mobile units of the Okene division were attacked this morning by unknown gunmen while on duty.

But ahead of this winding up, the people are already warming up to go to the polls on November of this year to elect the next occupant of the Lugard House in Lokoja for the next four years. Kogi, alongside Edo, Ondo, Bayelsa, Anambra and Ekiti, fell from the list of states whose handover dates are May 29 every four years consequent upon a Supreme Court ruling from a prolonged litigation of election petitions.
